The Building Process - Window / Door Framing


Window Rough Opening

Bottom corner of a window opening show how the bottom piece of track is notched, bent up and then fastened in place with self-drilling wafer head screws.

Top corner of a window opening show how the top piece of track is notched, bent down and then fastened in place with self-drilling wafer head screws.





Window Rough Opening


Window rough opening framed with wall stud on either side installed with the flat side facing in, top and bottom track installed and stud "cripples" installed above and below the opening to complete the framing.





Window Installation


Window rough opening with wood wrapping and the window installed. The wood wrapping can make the installation of drywall or wood trim easier but is not required.
