The Building Process - Roof Framing

Purlin Installation
The purlin locations are premarked on the rafters before the frames are erected and after the frames are erected the roof purlins are installed between each frame. A spacer tool made with a scrap 2x4 is used to get the correct spacing as the crew moves up the frames attaching the purlins with self tapping screws. Please note that the roof is being installed first to get the job in the dry. To get to this point on a 36' x 60' house took this 4 man crew about 10 hours including installing anchor bolts.
