The columns are bolted to the foundation using the anchor bolts that were installed in the foundation walls. The bolts are not completely tightened until the frames are plumbed.

The columns on both sides and the center stub column are then plumbed using a 4 foot magnetic level. The cross braces are installed diagonally on the column while the plumb is checked.

Properly cross braced columns with opposing cross braces attached to the top and bottom of each column. Cross Braces will be left in place until after the roof is sheathed.

End shot showing red iron frames with temporary cross bracing on the columns and middle stub column. Purlins have been installed but cross braces will be left in place until after the roof is sheathed. The lateral braces seen between the column and ceiling beam were installed when the frames were plumbed from front to back.

Additional frames are installed and braced to the two cross braced frames on the far end by using purlins fastened between each frame. There should be 2-4 rows of the starter purlins to brace the frames as they are installed.
