The Building Process - Frame Erection

Red Iron frames ready to erect

Red Iron frames are assembled and stacked close to the foundation as seen in the bottom right corner.

Sling connection at the peak

Nylon slings are wrapped around the center stub column on a narrow width frame. Note the short pieces of PVC pipe used to protect the sling from any damage from sharp edges.

Sling placement on a wide frame
Nylon slings are wrapped around the two outboard stub columns on a wider frame. Extra wide frames and some non-symmetric frames require the use of a spreader bar during lifting.

Using a tag line

Worker using a tag line to guide the ends of the frames into their proper place.

First two red Iron frame are set in place.

Using a boom truck or crane the first two red Iron frames are lifted one at a time from the stack and set in place. The first frame is tied off using stakes, trees or other stationary objects before lifting the second frame.
