June 13, 2004
The HDC crew returned to work on Tuesday, June 8 to continue their work. I guess this will be the last big showing that will be made. The sheathing was completed today and now the house looks like a great big banana. Georgia Pacific DensGlass Gold sheathing was used instead of plywood or chip board. Steel cross braces had to be run between the red iron columns to brace the house since this material is not structurally built for bracing. This material is a gypsum board with a special fiberglass coating to withstand the weather until the siding is applied. This is just one more effort to make the building as fire proof as possible. The only wood in the house will be the floor decking and the roof decking. It rained 2 ¼” last night, and having the roof on the house, it did not effect the work progress at all. These are the studs for the basement being put in place. All that remains is setting a few studs in the walls around the bathroom and framing out over the tub and showers.
This is a picture of the front of the house.
