The HDC crew returned to work on May 24 and they have made a big showing in last
seven days. As you can see below, the roof decking and black-in (felt) is
complete. About 60% of the shingles are in place. All of the roofing you see
in place has been done by one man in four days.

This is the roof from the back side of the house. Notice the shingles are down
from the left side almost over to the chimney.

This is the false chimney on the roof. It is flashed with copper and will have
a copper cover over the opening. All of the plumbing vents and other vents for
the house will exit under the cover (the cover will have a near solid bottom to
keep the rain out of the attic). There will also be a screen covered vent about
two by four feet in the center of the covered portion that will allow the whole
attic to vent. The roofer showed the masons how to install the copper flashing
and with his technique, I am sure it will never leak.

The floor decking was also installed yesterday (Saturday). It rained and they
were still able to work putting the floor panels down. The panels are put down
with liquid nails plus being screwed in place. This is to prevent the flooring
from squeaking.

Today the steel studs were started. The openings between the studs are for
windows. The headers, sill and jack studs will be added tomorrow.

This week, work will continue on installing the outside and inside stud walls.
