Arxx Insulated Concrete Walls provides five major benefits for
your home:
- Comfort
Arxx walls can virtually eliminate the “cold
spots” that occur in conventional frame walls, because
your home is wrapped in two continuous layers of foam insulation.
An Arxx home has 33% to 50% less air infiltration than a
conventional frame house, so uncomfortable drafts are virtually
eliminated.
With its high R-values, low air infiltration,
and high thermal mass, you can reduce your initial building
costs by installing a smaller HVAC system. Plus, the homeowner
can save up to 50% of their monthly heating and cooling costs
(depending on the region) compared to a conventional home.
You can also breath deeply and easily. The insulating foam protects
your walls against mold and mildew because it is inert.
An Arxx home or basement is simply more comfortable. It’s more
comfortable than wood framing. It’s more comfortable than concrete block. It’s even more
comfortable than regular poured concrete.
- Strength and Security
Arxx walls are built like a sandwich with a reinforced concrete
core. The structural integrity of this steel reinforced concrete
core provides exceptional protection from hurricanes, tornadoes,
and even rowdy neighbors. Arxx walls can be designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 150 mph...or more. Laboratory tests, simulating hurricane storm damage, demonstrate that an Arxx home can withstand wind-blown debris travelling at over 100 mph!
You get a 2-hour UL/ULC listed Fire Resistance Rating on every
6" Arxx wall you build. You can double it to a 4-hour
rating by adding fiber to the concrete. Fire retardant is added
to the EPS foam providing a self-ignition temperature of over
800° (430°C) in every Arxx form made.
The patented, exposed X-web gives
you solid-to-solid contact for all your finishing materials.
This dramatically reduces screw pops, siding sag, and customer
call-backs.
- Peace and Quiet
Arxx walls have proven and tested sound ratings. You can easily
attain Sound Transmission Classification (STC) up to 50 or
higher with an Arxx wall. Many commercial builders are using Arxx walls for condos and townhouses, because of the common walls. Also, builders are using Arxx walls for movie theaters because it provides such effective sound control (they also don't have to install so many layers of drywall ). If its good enough for the big boys, it would surely be great for your home theatre, too.
- Beauty
You can create any shape or size home you can imagine. Because Arxx has one of the widest variety of forms in the industry, and the accessories to support it's products,
you can easily build any shape, curve or angle. You can finish
it with any material – brick, stone, stucco, or wood
siding, confident that it’s solidly attached with the
Arxx patented, exposed X-web. With a reinforced concrete core,
Arxx walls have the strength to create large open spaces, offering
you complete design flexibility. And by the way, with the added thickness of an Arxx wall, you can create beautiful inset windows with deep, crisp shadows that emphasize the architectural details of your home.
- Energy Savings
With its high R-values, low air infiltration, and high thermal
mass, you can use a smaller heating and cooling system, and
save up to and over 50% of heating and cooling costs (depending
on the region where you live) compared to a conventional home.
In fact, buiding your home using the Arxx wallsystem may qualify you for an energy efficient
mortgage.
The solid concrete core of an Arxx wall stabilizes the interior temperature because of its thermal mass. Arxx walls can produce equivalent insulation values of up to R-50. You enjoy stable, constant thermal performance in your basement, even when the outdoor temperature changes dramatically throughout the day.
The increased energy efficiency is not just a financial benefit. In the event of a power outage, the R-50 equivalent of the walls helps maintain the comfort zone inside the home for approximately three times longer than most conventional walls.
A home built with above grade exterior Arxx walls, typically costs
more to build than a conventional wood frame home. But a lower cost heat/cool unit, lower
energy bills and lower insurance premiums can more than offset
the slightly higher mortgage payment. The real payback is in
quality, and the benefits of a quieter and more comfortable home.
